Qayeq (Solo Oud & Vocal) 2023 - present
“Qayeq” is Avin Ahmadi’s solo oud & vocal project, where she explores a distinctive cross-cultural musical language through her own compositions, bringing together Persian influences, jazz, and improvisation.
Within this intercultural context, she has developed a clearly recognizable personal style, merging voice and oud into a singular expressive language.
The journey began in October 2023, when at the age of 19, Avin performed her first solo concert at Strenge Kammer in Vienna’s renowned jazz club Porgy & Bess.
That debut performance marked the beginning of a solo series that she later named “Qayeq,” inspired by the Persian word for “boat” (قایق) — a vessel that moves fluidly with the water, drifting into new places and connecting different worlds.
In 2025, “Qayeq” was selected as part of NASOM (New Austrian Sound of Music), through which Avin brought the project to numerous international stages. Since then, she has toured extensively with “Qayeq” across Europe, West Asia, North Africa, and England.
Avin Ahmadi & Victoria Kirilova Duo 2024 - present
Duo Ahmadi & Kirilova was formed in November 2024 during the I AM ABROAD creative session in Vienna, where they were randomly paired as duo partners for the first time.
What began as a first-time collaboration quickly revealed a rare musical chemistry! Rooted in free improvisation and original compositions, their music weaves together elements of jazz, Persian contemporary music, and Bulgarian traditional influences, all through the unique instrumentation of Oud and Double bass.
Since then, the duo has brought their genre-defying sound to a variety of stages, including Kultursommer 2025, JAZZ I AM, Porgy & Bess Strenge Kammer and more.
